SMEunited welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Commission’s consultation “on a set of European Digital Principles”. We believe that digital transformation, which is a key enabling factor for SMEs to grow, needs to be coupled with sound digital principles. European digital principles should create the necessary confidence in businesses and citizens while navigating the digital environment.
The business community supports alternative means to resolve consumer disputes (ADRs) and acknowledges the efficient, cost-effective and speedy mechanism compared to courts to resolve disputes between consumers and companies. Ahead of the trilogue, SMEunited calls on negotiating parties to consider the specific characteristics of ADR, which are, amongst others, voluntary in nature, and an out-of-court procedure, requiring a clear scope for legal certainty.
